I never thought I’d find myself saying this, but I’m taking the National Archives of Australia to court.
I have dedicated my professional life to researching one of the most important moments in Australian colonial political history, the Whitlam dismissal. But the National Archives are refusing to release the last critical piece of information -- secret letters sent between Sir John Kerr and The Queen.
The National Archives are claiming these ‘Palace Letters’ are just personal correspondence, but they are the missing link to knowing what really happened.
I’m working with Australia’s top barristers pro bono to try to secure the release of the letters in court. But as you know, litigation costs are impossibly expensive and I simply can’t do this on my own.
With enough donations now we can ensure these secret letters are finally released. Can you make a tax-deductible donation today?
In gratitude,
Prof. Jenny Hocking
