We know that 1,262 women, men and children detained on Manus Island and Nauru are experiencing extreme mental abuse and physical deprivation.

But the full scale of neglect and abuse remains hidden from the public's eyes, making it almost impossible to have the camps closed.  

The Australian Government has created laws that threaten two years imprisonment for doctors, teachers and other professionals who report the extreme neglect and abuse facing asylum seekers on Australia's offshore detention centres.

The law is an effective tool designed to suppress dissent. It stops information flowing to the Australian community from some of the most reputable, trusted and experienced first-hand witnesses of the suffering being caused to people seeking asylum.

To protect these professionals and ensure the free flow of information to the public, we will fight the Government in court with the Doctors4Refugees and the Fitrzoy Legal Service to have these draconian laws overturned once and for all.
