Xanthe Waite

Paralegal

Xanthe joined Grata Fund as a paralegal in July 2025, where she assists the legal team with the incubation and support of strategic litigation across areas of human rights, climate justice and democracy, as well as the organisation’s law reform and advocacy work.

Prior to joining Grata Fund, Xanthe worked as a research assistant at the Australian Human Rights Institute where she assisted in updating a textbook on international human rights law. Xanthe has also worked as a law clerk at the Kingsford Legal Centre and was the 2021 Australian Human Rights Institute’s Global Fellow at Human Rights Watch. She interned at Grata Fund in 2022.

Xanthe’s research, which has focused on First Nations justice and human rights, has been accepted for publication in the Australian Journal of Human Rights and the University of New South Wales Law Journal. Xanthe is currently undertaking a Juris Doctor degree at UNSW, and she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne.
