Patrick Warner

Patrick is a public interest focused lawyer with over ten years’ experience in community legal centres and the Victorian government. Patrick has worked as a lawyer at Victoria Legal Aid, Justice Connect Homeless Law and was also the managing principal lawyer of the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service’s civil justice and human rights team. In these roles, Patrick provided direct legal services to clients and spearheaded larger-scale strategic litigation work. Patrick has also worked as a senior managing lawyer in the Victorian Government, advising on complex external inquiries and large-scale litigation matters.
Prior to joining Grata Fund, Patrick was an executive in Victoria’s Department of Premier and Cabinet where he co-directed the State’s response and engagement with the Yoorrook Justice Commission, Australia’s first formal, Aboriginal-led truth-telling inquiry into the injustices of colonisation.
Patrick lives and works on beautiful Wadawurrung country in Jan Juc on Victoria’s surf coast.
